The Nexgate Browser Extension helps you make smarter vehicle buying decisions by showing real-time market insights, pricing intelligence, and value comparisons directly on vehicle listing pages.
There's no need to switch tabs or manually copy and paste vehicle details. The information you need appears while you browse.
What is a Browser Extension?
A browser extension is a small tool you add to your internet browser (such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge) to provide additional functionality. Think of it as an app for your browser. Once installed, it can help you work more efficiently and add useful features to the websites you visit.
What do I need to start using the extension?
To use the Nexgate Browser Extension, you'll need:
- A Nexgate account (with your login details).
- The following user permissions:
- Sourcing Edit or Sourcing Manage
- Insights View or Insights Manage
If any of these are missing, contact your Nexgate Administrator or Account Manager to enable access.
How to Get Started
1. Install the Extension
- Go to the Chrome Web Store and search for "Nexgate Browser Extension", or install it directly from the Chrome Store listing here.
- Select Install and follow the prompts.
2. Sign In
- Open the browser extension and sign in using your Nexgate username and password.
- If you've signed in before, you may remain signed in automatically.
- To ensure the extension can access your account permissions and subscriptions, remain signed in while browsing.
3. Add Vehicle Websites
When you visit a website you'd like the extension to work on, the extension will prompt you to start monitoring that website if it hasn't previously been added.
- Visit a vehicle marketplace website, such as carsales.com.au.
- When prompted, select Start search.
- The website will be added to your list of Active Domains.
- The extension will begin scanning vehicle listings automatically when detected.
Manage your websites
You can remove websites at any time.
To remove a website:
- Open the extension settings using the Settings icon.
- Review your saved websites.
- Select the Bin icon to remove a website.
Tip: Only keep websites you regularly use to reduce unnecessary notifications.
4. View Insights While You Browse
When the extension detects a vehicle on an active website, you'll see a notification in the top-right corner of the page indicating a match has been found.
You'll also see a notification badge on the extension icon in your browser toolbar.
Tip: The extension icon is usually located in the browser extensions area in the upper-right corner of Chrome or Edge.
Select the notification or extension icon to view:
- Vehicle details
- Make and model
- VIN or registration number (when available)
- Odometer
- Asking price
From here you can:
- Add Opportunity: Creates a Sourcing record in Nexgate and attempts to identify the vehicle using available information to surface market insights and acquisition opportunities.
For improved data quality and vehicle matching, a Nexgate Registration Search will automatically run when a VIN or registration number is available.
Important: Registration Searches incur a per-search fee.
- Report Incorrect Information: The extension uses AI to identify vehicle information. If the results don't appear correct, use the report function to notify our team.
5. Review Opportunity Details and Insights
Once the opportunity has been added, you'll have quick access to key Nexgate functionality directly from your browser.
This includes:
- Vehicle identification results
- Vehicle specifications
- Market insights
- Acquisition opportunities
Insights
The extension provides access to key Insights metrics, including:
- Market supply
- Number of comparable vehicles currently advertised
- Average market price
- Average kilometres
- Recent delistings
- Instant Offer estimates
- Average days to sell
View Competitive Set
Select the competitive set link to open the full market comparison in Nexgate Sourcing, where you can continue reviewing analytics, comparable vehicles, and market trends.
Use this information to quickly determine whether a vehicle is worth pursuing without switching between multiple systems.
6. Selecting an Account
Make sure you've selected the correct account before creating opportunities.
Any opportunities created through the extension will be associated with the currently selected account, and your account settings will determine which Insights data is displayed.
